 | OAGC May 2010 News Flash | Conference | 2010 Fall Conference The OAGC Fall Conference Committee received many fine small session proposals and is developing a final schedule. A draft of the small session grid along with keynoter information will be available by July. If you have funds you must encumber before summer, you may wish to register for the fall conference now. For registration forms, please go to www.oagc.com/?q=fallconference . Remember many state and federal grants will allow funds to be spent on professional development activities. NOTE: The deadline for student art submissions has been extended to August 31, 2010. Please find the art auction documents at www.oagc.com/?q=fallconference. | | Advocacy | School Funding Advisory Council Update The Special Needs Subcommittee of the Ohio School Funding Advisory Council has been meeting regularly. On June 4, the subcommittee will be meeting to discuss gifted issues and solutions. For agendas, meetings, documents, and other information regarding the OSFAC Special Needs Committee, please go to www.oagc.com/?q=schoolfundingcouncil. Gifted Advisory Council Update The first meeting of the Gifted Advisory Council is scheduled for June 1, 2010. All documents from this council will be posted at www.oagc.com/?q=rulerevision. State Board of Education Update The State Board of Education Advocacy and Outreach Committee voted on the State Board Legislative Platform at the May meeting. Absent from the platform was the recommendation to narrow gifted identification categories. | | General Information | Call for OAGC Review Articles and Call for Experts The deadline for the Fall OAGC Review is June 15, 2010. Please note the new submission date. The theme for the the Fall Review is "Back to School." If you need additional time to submit an article, please contact Ann Sheldon at executivedirector@oagc.com. In addition to this deadline, OAGC Interim Review Editor, Mary Rizza, has issued a call for experts for the next column "Ask the Experts." Important Links
