Advocacy

SB216, the education deregulation bill has not received a hearing since December. It is widely exepected that a sub-bill will be drafted within the next two weeks or so. In addition, two bills that would revamp district report cards, are expected to be introduced in the Ohio House soon. There is some speculation that the gifted performance indicator might be targeted for elimination or significant modification in any one of these bills. The gifted performance indicator is the sole accountabilty measure for gifted students in Ohio. As information is available about any of these bills, it will be posted at oagc.com/advocacyalerts.asp
